Career Exploration Paper When it came to planning for my future career, I knew that I wanted to be successful in helping others around me and making the world a positive place. I wanted to be a part of making the world a better place and help the people in it with working to improve themselves. Through research, I came to the conclusion that becoming a probation officer would be a more suitable career for me and the goals I want to accomplish. Probation officers serve as supervisors and mentors for offenders who are trying to get back on their feet. In contrast, outbound marketing on LinkedIn entails understanding your target market and what types of people or companies you want to approach, and then creating a campaign to reach them. Dafna focused on B2B strategies, but many of her tips apply to job seekers as well. Regardless of your business or career situation, LinkedIn is an extremely strong tool for creating an initial connection ââ¬â and you can use it to forge ongoing connections as well. Move the conversation from LinkedIn to the phone or even a video call. Whenever you talk to someone in a business context, call from a quiet place ââ¬â professionalism is more important than calling back fast when there is noise around (this one I learned the hard way). Always smile ââ¬â it changes the tone of your voice. And be prepared for small talk. Check the weather, sports, events wherever your client is. Those details truly make a difference. Jonas Sark essays In the 1950's, summertime was a time of fear for many parents. Summertime was the season when children by the hundreds became infected with the crippling disease "poliomyelitis". This fear was finally lifted when it was announced that Dr. Jonas Salk had developed a vaccine against the disease. Salk became world-famous overnight, but his discovery was the result of many years of research. Salk was called a miracle from God. He was also called The Man Who Saved the Children. He further endeared himself to the public by refusing to patent the vaccine. He had no desire to profit personally from the discovery, but merely wished to see the vaccine spread as widely as possible. In countries where Salk's vaccine has remained in use, the disease has been virtually eliminated. Polio was a crippling disease that parents around the globe were terrified of. Perhaps polio's other name, infantile paralysis, had something to do with it. Images of babies in wheelchairs and tots on crutches tend to alter one's perception. And just in case anyone wasn't scared enough, the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis hammered the nightmare home with photos that seemed to show up everywhere of sad-looking children in leg braces.
